ASWD clubs receive Track and Field Equipment
Five clubs from Athletics SWD were identified to form part of the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS WC)’s three-year Club Development Program. They are:
• Beaufort West Runners
• Hartenbos Drawwers
• Oudtshoorn AAC
• Outeniqua Harriers
• Sedgefield Striders
The Club Development Program (CDP) focusses on Governance, Capacity Building and Support.
Governance
Clubs must have the following in place to qualify:
• Elected committee
• Active bank account
• Formal leagues on the federation’s fixture list
• Governed by a club constitution
• Annual General and Special General Meetings on an annual basis
• Have a junior and senior division
Capacity Building
DCAS will assist the clubs with the following:
• Empowerment of athletes and administrators through education and training opportunities
• Basis sport and recreation / administrative courses
• Sports specific coaching courses
• Technical courses
Support
DCAS will assist the clubs with the following:
• Year 1 = Basic Equipment (Training and Competition)
• Year 2 = Kit (Participation Clothing)
• Year 3 = Tracksuits
• Transport Assistance towards attending league events, education and training courses and other Club Development Programs in conjunction with Federations.
