ASWD EDUCATION SERIES 2015

Athletics SWD is well on their way with this year’s ASWD Education Series.

1. ASWD Road Running Referee Course

The Series kicked off with the ASWD Road Running Referee Course that was held on 17 January 2015 in George. In total 10 x candidates completed the course. We would like to congratulate 9 of the candidates that passed their exam with more than 80%. They are:

The course was presented by Des Harris (ASWD Road Running Commission Chairperson) who is also a qualified ASWD Road Running Referee. Two other Referees also attended the course to update themselves on the latest Rules and Regulations published earlier this year by ASA.

2. ASWD Road Running Event Organizer’s Workshop

Athletics SWD, in conjunction with the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (Western Cape), presented the ASWD Road Running Event Organizer’s Workshop on 14 February 2015 in Pacaltsdorp. A total of 34 x representatives for Clubs in the province attended the interactive workshop.

The following topics were discussed:

Negotiating a sponsorship: Pre Event / Post Event / Way Forward
Planning, Organising and Controlling a Road Race
IPICO Timing System

3. ASWD Race Walking Judges Course

Athletics SWD and DCAS (WC) once again joined hands to present the ASWD Race Walking Judges Course that was held on 14 February 2015 in Pacaltsdorp. A total of 9 x candidates completed the course and eight qualified Judges attended the course to update themselves on the ASA Rules and Regulations 2015. We would like to congratulate 9 of the candidates that passed their exam with more than 70%. They are
